Where ya at, dawgs?

Hey kids!!

You may (or may not) have noticed that we didn’t post a show this week. The reason for this is simple: I hate you.

NO! That’s so the opposite of the truth, it’s just silly.

In truth, Donnie had a bit of a family situation that came up unexpectedly that he had to go deal with out of town, and since I’m doing the out-of-town thing right now too, it would have been a nightmare trying to get a show together. So we postpone to next week!

However, there was a lot of cool stuff that happened this week that I kinda want to mention, so bear with me, grab a coffee and read on!

Fear Itself #1 – Marvel’s summer event beat DC’s Flashpoint onto the shelves, and I have to say, is selling like hotcakes. I really like where this book is going. It’s shaping up to be a classic Good Vs Evil kind of story, very straightforward and fun.

Brightest Day #23 – …in which we see the return of SWAMP THING! The internet was nice enough to wait until the day before the book landed in my lap to spoil this one, but I have to say I still love it. There’s two main reasons I think this is great: First, it makes perfect sense, and Second its something new. We haven’t seen Swamp Thing for a long time, and it’s actually a “return” that I can get behind!

Steve No More – Speaking of “returns,” Steve Rogers will be Captain America again. In July. But Marvel was nice enough to spoil it for us this week. Cool. I mean, I’m not naive enough to think that Steve Rogers wasn’t going to wield the shield again, especially with the movie coming out. But could we not at least try to build the suspense a little bit? Is that too much to ask?

Speaking of Steve, Marvel announced that Captain America will get a new #1 issue, while a series called Captain America & Bucky will pick up the current series numbering. I love the idea of a Cap & Bucky series that is set in WWII and is all about their untold adventures. But our friends over at Bleeding Cool did notice something rather interesting:

Batman got shot and killed. Captain America got shot and killed.

Batman’s partner a long time ago, Robin, now Nightwing, took over the role of Batman

Captain America’s partner a long time ago, Bucky, now Winter Soldier, took over the role of Captain America.

In Batman: The Return Of Bruce Wayne, Batman found himself not killed but sent back in time on a journey through timezones trying to make it back to thepresent day.

In Captain America Returns, etc etc etc etc.

DC published a new ongoing series, Batman And Robin.

Now Marvel have announced a new series, Captain America And Bucky, taking over the numbering from Captain America, by Ed Brubaker , Marc Andreyko and Chris Samnee.

Okay, it’s not quite the same, but damn these seem to be interesting coincidences. The book will be a flashback series, set in Europe before the Americans entered World War II.

Which should tie in nicely with the new film’s setting too.

They say God is in the details, and those are some very interesting details…

So some “Forecast” stuff. We’ll have full reviews and discussion when we come back nest week, but for now:

I really liked Butcher Baker. Very different type of Superhero story. Thanks for the suggestion, Moss. Walking Dead #83 was pretty shocking. I’m looking forward to being able to get my hands on the Nonplayer reprint in May.

Hope Donnies family is okay, thoughts are with you dude.

I once read a story that Red Bull and Red Rooster were the same company selling the same product under different names to appeal to both sides of the market. Man people would flip their shit if Marvel and DC were doing the same.

I’d love to hear your opinions on Walking Dead #83. I won’t say any more for those that haven’t read it (blasphemy to spoil TWD) but daaaaaaaamn. It was one of THOSE issues.
