Episode 157: All By Myself, Don’t Wanna Be All By Myself

This week on The Watchtower, Donnie is no longer with us.

No, he didn’t die or get “restructured,” he’s come down with a pretty nasty throat infection (No word on if Despotellis was involved).

So, I thought to myself “What would I want to hear on The Watchtower?” I can tell you this: It isn’t me prattling on about nothing. So, I dipped into the Archives and brought out our interview with the one and only Kevin Smith. We spoke with him back in February, and I’m proud to present this second look at a great chat with a great dude.

But that’s not all of course. Not unlike Atlas himself, I put the weight of The Forecast solely on my shoulders, and let you know what’s good in the world of comics before embarking on a journey that can only be called JEFFY’s Rant Farm?

That’s a terrible name.

Not to worry though, Donnie will be back next week, fresh as a daisy and wrong as ever!

Best episode all year! Maybe I should die because the show would probably do much better. Seriously though my throat sucks and If I had have done the show with you this week it would have sounded like our special guests were Cobra-Commander and Starscream. Thanks for going it alone this week.

Nice job Jeff, I hope Donnie will be back next week though.

I agreed with almost everything you said about people who only read D.C. or Marvel. I consider myself a Marvel guy. I like most of their characters better and usually prefer their sense of continuity. I still occasionally read D.C. However Pepsi and Coke are IMHO nothing alike.

Too bad you couldn’t get Kat to fill in this week.

Questy dude if you’re gonna use cannabis, you gotta remember not to share blunts with people outside your household if you know there’s something going around. How many times have I encountered people in a dubee circle who are complaining about their cold or flue as they hit it, and pass it to the left? If you’re going to continue to use cannabis after you’ve come down with an ailment, I recommend a vaporizer. It won’t aggitate your lungs and throat so much. I don’t use cannabis myself, but if I did, I would use big words like this and try to come off as smart and P.C. as possible so that people don’t think I’m some dumb stoner.

    Good job Jeff.

Comics Pull. When are we going to get the skinny?

It’s sad to say but a couple of the guys working in my local comic shop are ‘one side or the other’ (and not in managerial positions thankfully). Don’t get me wrong they’re good friends but it’s sad to know that there’s people out their who have missed out on good books because of their slamming of a publisher.

Am I the only person who cannot seem to get into Return of Bruce Wayne or Brightest Day? At the very least the later has me intrigued with the mystery behind the White Lantern and I did enjoy the last issue, but Return of Bruce Wayne? People slam Spawn for this shit, but it’s okay for Batman? I don’t mind stories that take the hero and place them in a different setting, but this is the return of Bruce Wayne, I want something a bit more…Batman. I’ve always seen him as a street-level character, having his return from the grave series be so fantastical just doesn’t sit right with me. I want to keep reading and I am a fan of Grant Morrison, I just don’t know if I’m going to last.

Yo Jeff. When I was first in there playing around right after you launched it, I got the latest issue of The Walking Dead. I may just be ignorant and lazy, but I couldn’t see whether if I was ordering a single issue or “subscribing” to the series.

Also the two books that I love but am in hate with: Bad Dog, and War Heroes – couldn’t find them on the site. Is this because there hasn’t been new solicits for quite a while?

    Cheers.
