Hey all! Here are a few more books I picked up in the last few weeks that didn’t make it into The Checklist. Some decent stuff, not to be missed!!

THE MAN WITH NO NAME #1
There is a ton of great stuff coming out from Dynamite these days. The Boys, The Lone Ranger, and Project Superpowers to name a few. Well, they can add one more as the comic take on Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name lives up to the reputation of the books I just mentioned. So gritty you can practically taste the dirt roads, the book picks up after The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and takes right off into a firefight. I love westerns, and am pretty hard to impress when it comes to them, but this book is a fantastic take on the genre.

ECHO #2
The second issue of Terry Moore’s first post-Strangers In Paradise book is just as exciting as the first! Moore writes a story that is funny, exciting, and full of mystery. This book is one part Double-Oh-Seven, one part Iron Man, and of course, one part Strangers. Echo is a great read, and I’m glad to see that Moore’s storytelling has legs beyond the Strangers In Paradise books.

X-MEN ORIGINS: COLOSSUS
I think I would actually prefer this to the current Wolverine: Origins series. They could focus on a different member of the X-Men with each arc, and so on and so forth. Breathe some new life into the team. But what we have for now, is a one-shot focused on Colossus. The Story seemed a bit rushed, but since it’s mainly a re-hash of what we already know, you can’t blame them for that. The art is spectacular, and I think this could be a great starting point for a series of one-shots. Marvel, are you listening?

THE PUNISHER: FORCE OF NATURE
Punisher One-Shots are always great because they toe the line between the surreal and the sublime. So gritty and violent, they often make me laugh out loud, simply because they are so over the top. Force of Nature is no different. Book is a nautical adventure, that includes an encounter with a whale. What I love most about the Punisher is when a good writer takes him in a psychological direction they way this story does. A great book, and well worth the $5 cover price.

I just dropped Wolverine Origins when the Deadpool arc finished. I love Wolverine, I think he is one of the best and hardest to write characters in comic books. This book however really did not live up to its title. Jeph Loeb’s short run on the title recently did more to explain Logan’s (or should I say James?) origin than the last few years of Origins has.

*Sigh* Though there are so many Wolverine books out, I guess it doesn’t matter. That dude’s face should just be the logo for Marvel.
